Darlington Raceway
Darlington Raceway is .7 mi. w. of US 52 bypass on SR 34. The track dubbed “Too Tough to Tame” opened in 1950 with the Southern 500, which has since become its signature annual event. The culmination of local businessman Harold Brasington's dreams and labor, Darlington Raceway is a 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval whose lopsided west end was so configured to avoid destroying a neighboring landowner's fish pond. Darlington's facilities include two towers, state-of-the-art grandstands and a pit road wide enough for the full lineup.
