South Carolina Wildlife Refuge
Santee Refuge is one of over 514 refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. Established in 1942, this refuge is comprised of 15,095 acres of mixed hardwoods, mixed pine-hardwood, pine plantations, marsh, croplands, old fields, ponds, impoundments, and open waters located in four separate management units along Lake Marion, stretching to the upper coastal plains region of Clarendon County.
